    As an independent specialty mystery bookstore devoted exclusively to used suspense, crime, and detective fiction, we currently have more than 10,000 (and growing/changing every day) recent and hard-to-find hardcover, trade paper, and mass market volumes ranging from classics and cozies to tough guys and thrillers.

     Our stock is distinguished not only for its breadth within the mystery genre but also for its condition. 

     Our goal is to provide books by today’s mystery writers and those of their predecessors. We’re happy to offer recommendations for every taste, whether customers have just discovered mysteries or they’re experienced armchair detectives.

     At Mainely Murders, we have an affinity for specialty mystery imprints, including SOHO, Bitter Lemon, Felony & Mayhem, and Poisonous Pen, as well as classic reprints from Rue Morgue, Dover, and Penguin.

     In addition to our inventory of works by America's contemporary mystery writers, our shelves are packed with books by British, Scandinavian, and other international authors.

     Maine and New England authors hold a special place at Mainely Murders, along with mysteries with a New England twist.
